The St. Vincent de Paul Society was established in response to those in need, in the spirit of Christ’s teachings through the Corporal Works of Mercy. It provides aid in the form of food, clothing, and financial assistance. When a person is seeking financial aid, two people from the Society work jointly to determine the need. A home visit and a listening session with the person requesting help is made. The two members conducting the visit make the judgment on its merit. They evaluate the circumstances and choose a course of action to be taken. A visit does not guarantee financial assistance. It may be decided that BCAC or a government agency could better provide the assistance needed. The person seeking help is directed to the correct avenue. If the team decides that financial aid is warranted, the payment is made directly to the business, vendor, or person providing service to the requester. If you are in need of assistance from the St. Vincent De Paul Society, please call the parish office at 413-743-0577 ext. 302 to speak with Deacon Bruce and start the process.
